How we test
Every device is used on the same dog — my own reactive rescue — against the same trigger list: doorbell, post, passing dogs, wildlife in the garden, and night noise. Each device gets a minimum of three weeks, because week one of any interrupter looks like failure and judging a device on day two tells you nothing.
I log each barking episode: time, trigger, whether the interruption landed, and whether the dog checked in with me afterwards. The ranking reflects how often the device produced that check-in, not how loud or clever it is.
What we refuse to recommend
No shock collars, no prong collars, and no automatic bark collars that correct without a human deciding what deserves correcting. A device that cannot tell an intruder from a bird teaches a dog nothing except that the world is unpredictable.
